MASU

SGD 49.90

A little forest, a little of Japan, close at hand.

MASU serves a dual function. In the first, it displays the classic and auspicious MASU Kumiko pattern. Amongst the thousands of Kumiko patterns, the MASU with its horizontal and vertical lines devoid of superfluous elements stands as a symbol of refinement. In the second, the Kumiko is removed and becomes a coaster, freeing the base to serve as a device stand.

The stand comprises a selection of different woods, including beech, cherry, oak, maple, pine and walnut. Enjoy the patterns of nature - the unique wood grain of each timber and their rich warm hues of burnt sienna, wheat and sand. Kumiko is a traditional Japanese wood craft, wooden latticework that is a feature of traditional Japanese architecture.

Our smartphones are almost always in hand. For a moment, why not set it aside and have a warm cup of tea (or coffee, or your favourite non-caffeinated beverage)? With MASU, we hope to bring the beauty of the forest and the tranquil elegance of Kumiko to the work or study desk, a reminder to pause for a tea break amidst our hectic schedules.

MASU is available in two variations, single or mixed timber.

About The MOKKO Readymade Collection

The MOKKO Readymade Collection was conceived with the intention to fully utilise offcut material from our larger commissioned projects. Parts of the wood material that contain defects, rendering them unusable for structural purposes, are also saved.

With respect for the life of the tree, the long passage of time it takes to mature, and the life it gives, we have sought to design a range of products that lets as little as possible of this precious resource go to waste.
